The Manager Who Taught Kindness by Example

It was just another ordinary stop for lunch—or so it seemed.

On their way home from Vanderbilt University, a mother and her young son, Jasper, pulled into a CiCi’s Pizza in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They were the first customers of the day, looking forward to a quick bite before the long drive home.

But what the mother witnessed inside that restaurant would stay with her far longer than any meal.

At one of the tables sat an employee named Diana, a woman with visible challenges. As she quietly finished her meal, a young manager named Brandon noticed she had a small mess on her face. Without hesitation, he approached her table, gently took a napkin, and began to wipe her face clean with genuine care—no awkwardness, no pity, just kindness in its purest form.

The restaurant was silent except for the soft hum of the morning. To anyone else, it might have seemed a small thing. But to the watching mother, it was monumental.

“As the parent of a special needs child,” she later wrote, “this simple act moved me deeply.”

She approached Brandon to thank him. His response was humble, almost shy.

“I was just doing what my grandparents taught me,” he said.

It was then she realized the true power of small gestures.

In a world where frustration often spreads faster than gratitude, Brandon’s quiet compassion became a reminder that kindness is contagious too—if only we share it.

She left that day with more than a full stomach. She left inspired—to tell the story, to spread the light, to balance out the world’s noise with grace.

“We share negative experiences so quickly,” she wrote, “but this reminded me to share the positive ones just as fast.”

So if you ever find yourself in Murfreesboro, stop by CiCi’s Pizza. Say hello to Brandon. And remember: sometimes, the smallest moments are the ones that restore our faith in people.

🍕 If this story warmed your heart, share it. Let kindness travel as far as it can.
